Reduce the Cost and Impact of Thermal Imaging
In the course of field operations, Panoptic Solutions has been able to test the use of thermal imaging through a protective grate to analyze electrical equipment. While the images generated are not always usable for true temperature analysis, they can still be used to identify gradients in temperature which indicate the potential of an issue and dictate further investigation. Scans are limited by the visibility allowed by the grate through which they are performed, due both to the shape and pattern of the grate.
This through-grate imaging process can be used to perform routine scans of large infrastructure (PDU main breakers, transformers, batteries) at much lower cost, more frequently, and without the need for maintenance controls, since no electrical gear is being opened. Once a potential issue is identified, a full scan of the equipment in question, and whatever other testing is required can be performed.
